“Love is the True North that will always guide us home.”
Joanna and John are one of those couples who you can’t help but love. They make a fantastic team and created a fantastic day for their friends and family, who had gathered from around the globe, to celebrate their wedding.
The day began at Joanna’s parents’ house where Lyndsay Alexis and Gemma Taylor Hair were helping the bridal party get ready. One of my favourite moments of the day was capturing Joanna’s surprise when she opened the card from her groom and found a pretty epic love poem John had written himself - though the rhyme scheme might have been questionable in places.
Meanwhile the boys were busy getting ready and making their way to Monymusk House where the finishing touches were being made to the stunning ceremony marquee.
It was awesome to share capturing the day with the team at Janie Barclay Photography who not only create the most beautiful images, but are such a pleasure to work alongside that it never feels like work at all. Especially when the bride looks as breathtaking as Joanna. That moment when her dad sees his little girl as a bride for the first time must be one of the sweetest father of the bride reactions ever. My eyes still nip every time I watch it.
Before entering her reception, Joanna made the touching decision to honour her family heritage by changing into a traditional red Chinese wedding dress, much to the surprise and delight of her parents. It was impossible not to fall in love with this family. A big thank you to Country Flavours of Alford for another outstanding meal; both the guests and the suppliers were ‘fair treated.’
The day ended to the sweet musical stylings of the Splendid Gentlemen who entertained their guests with an eclectic set list.
